Can CBD Help Reduce Pain? (Doctor’s Review)

Hello, everybody. Dr. Bill Rawls here. Does
CBD from hemp, a kind of cannabis, help
with pain? And I would say that’s where
one place where CBD, the entire extract that
has all of the other components of the hemp,
actually shines. And it’s different —
it’s not the same as medical marijuana,
but it still has a place for a few pretty
significant benefit. What it’s doing, what
CBD is performing in your system when you take
it as an oil (is your preferred way that
you take it in) and it is consumed in your
mouth and then some of it is consumed in
your intestinal tract, it’s
modulating endorphins and it is overseeing endorphins. Endorphins are
those feel-good chemicals in our body
that help with pain. You know we
would all be only a package of pain all
the time if it was not for endorphins.
So endorphins keep us comfortable. Now
there are other things that impact
endorphins that when you look at
narcotics and heroin and opioids, they
are actually acting like endorphins in
the body or substituting endorphins. So you
suppress your endorphins which is not a good thing. With CBD we’re doing
something entirely different —
we are modulating endorphins. We’re, you
understand, it is overseeing so when you take
CBD, it is affecting chemicals in your
body that actually raise your
endogenous, or your inner
endorphins. So you do not have that risk
of dependence and each the problems
that come with with opioids. Not as
potent as opioids, for certain, but they have —
You know, it you don’t pay a cost for
using CBD. It’s not going to affect you
in an adverse way and you don’t have to
worry about habituation and addiction.
So it’s a really nice option for pain.
The only thing you have to deal
with chronic pain is if you are taking it daily you may develop
some tolerance to it so you’ll have to
use more of it, but it does not have
withdrawal symptoms. In other words, if
you suddenly stop, it you are not gonna go
into withdrawals like if you’re taking a narcotic for quite a while or an
opioid for quite a very long time and stopped it
suddenly, you could be in real trouble.
CBD will not to do that. It does not have
these habituating tendencies. So there are
really two ways to use it in order to get benefit.
One is as an oral preparation that you
take internally. The other is as a rub or
a salve to rub on joints or places
which are uncomfortable. There I think
you are getting some benefit from the CBD,
but I think with that
program, we’re really looking more
at the other aspects of cannabis, other
chemicals called terpenoids, that are
actually absorbed very well. And most
preparations that have topical CBD also
utilize other essential oils. The essential
oils are only wonderful for aches
and pains and joint distress. So when
you combine that with the entire herb
from hemp, and you combine various
different essential oils, it can be a
really wonderful effect that can do
wonders for aches and pains. I use it all
the time for overexertion and it is really the top of my list for that sort
of thing. So in the event you’d if you’d like to

CBD to help people understand its
software and how to get best use and
