CBD is one of the over 100 compounds extracted from the cannabis plant, the same plant where the intoxicating marijuana is derived from. What differentiates marijuana from CBD is the high level of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).

In June 2016, a study was carried out by the Salk Institute of Biological Studies on the effect of CBD on Alzheimer’s. The result shows that CBD has the ability to cure plague forming proteins, the major cause of Alzheimer’s disease.
For the research, CBD oil was administered to some mice with the behavioral characteristics of Alzheimer’s disease. The oil doesn’t only regulate the mice’s behavior but also reduced the accumulation of amyloid in the mice’s brain. This result led medical researchers into more investigation on the effectiveness of CBD oil on Alzheimer’s and other related diseases.
The result so far shows that there is a relationship between CBD oil and Alzheimer’s diseases. But, no thorough research has been carried out on humans to back up the claim.
However, CBD has performed very well on patients suffering from diseases related to Alzheimer’s like anxiety, agitation, stress and so on. CBD oil works effectively for any of these diseases.
Therefore, we can conclude by saying, since CBD works on Alzheimer related diseases, there is every likelihood that it would do the same when used on a patient suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. In administering CBD to an Alzheimer patient, the age and weight of the patient should be taken into consideration. The duration of the disease is also very important.
